Amira's Jewelry Collection consists of handmade original designs using Macrame techniques with authentic South and Latin American string and various alternative materials, such as canvas, vinyl, leather, paint, collage, metals, stone, glass and ceramic beads.

Her innovative canvas line includes hand painted and cut canvas fragments sewn together.  With a keen sense of color and an interest in textile design, Amira creates bold, and refreshing pieces of jewelry that may be worn casual and dressed up.

Looking more at her fine art, Amira is interested in relationships between color, shape, light and form.  Her work explores perspective and a sense of scale that allows her to investigate space and direction, motion and weight.  Recently, Amira shows a fascination with the physical and tactile experience of making art, through cutting and forming canvas and paper in drawings and paintings.  She is working on forging her jewelry and fine art practices and ideas.
Designer and Artist Amira Mednick showcases creativity and a refreshing take on jewelry in her Accessory Collections that pull from the traditions of South American Macrame and play with the use of hand painted canvas as wearable art.

Amira was born in New York City and raised in Westport, Connecticut.  After completing the B.F.A program at SUNY Purchase, Amira traveled throughout Argentina, Bolivia, Chile and Peru.  While backpacking through rural and urban areas, Amira became intrigued by the indigenous art form of Macrame and spent much of her time learning special knotting techniques.  She returned to the United States and began creating her own line of wearable art, fusing the artistic traditions of South America with the art and design theories and practices she learned in Art School.
